May 27, 2013 – The Siena College baseball team battled back to tie Canisius 11-11 on a dramatic homerun by Larry Balkwill in the top of the ninth inning, only to lose the MAAC tournament championship game 12-11 when Jose Torralba was hit by a pitch with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. Siena was behind 10-3 going into the seventh inning, but gamely fought back, scoring six runs on six hits to come within one run. After Canisius scored twice and pulled ahead 11-9 in the bottom of the inning, Siena’s Balkwill hit is shot to tie it in the top of the ninth. It was a very bitter pill to swallow for a Siena team that played so well throughout the tournament and finished the season with a 27-30 record. Canisius finished the season with a 42-15 mark.
