Kingston Transfer – Larry Harris played basketball for Mont Pleasant from 1967-1970, and he ranks among the best Red Raider players of all-time. The southpaw sharpshooter ranks high on the list of the top Mont Pleasant scorers. Harris played his ninth-grade basketball for Kingston High. His sophomore year, Harris averaged over 20 points per game for Pleasant.
Shot Put Champ – Mont Pleasant’s Joe Zelezniak, a two-time New York State high school shot put champ, set a record in the event three straight years (1971-73) in the Capital District Track Club’s indoor championships. He also was an outstanding southpaw quarterback for the Red Raiders with a gun for an arm. Zelezniak once appeared on the front cover of Health & Strength Magazine.
