Schenectady fighter, Abe Feldman, who many rate as one of the greatest boxers to come out of the Electric City along with Marty Servo. Feldman played on the first football team at Mont Pleasant High School. As an amateur boxer, he had a record of 63-5. He fought as a pro from 1932-1939 and at one time was ranked number 1 as a light-heavyweight contender and number 4 as a heavyweight contender. He fought James Braddock, ‘Two Ton” Tony Galento, and Maxie Rosenbloom. Feldman fought at Madison Square Garden 14 times and won all 14 bouts. He was named the Schenectady Co-Athlete of the Quarter Century by the Mont Pleasant athletic Club.
