In March, 1963, Paul “Bear” Bryant of Alabama and Wally Butts of Georgia were accused of fixing the 1962 Alabama-Georgia football game.  The Crimson Tide won that game, 35-0.  Bryant and Butts sued the publication that accused them for libel.  They won the trial, but Butts was forced to resign his position as  Athletic Director because his reputation had been severely damaged.
