Linton High School of Schenectady had some of its greatest basketball teams in the 1960s. They were led by talented players like Barry Kramer, Pat Riley, and Sidney Edwards. The Blue Devil gym was also the site for pro basketball in 1964. The Schaefer Brewers, once known as the Wedekind Pros, were playing there on Sunday evenings. The Brewers played against such great college All-Americans as Jo Jo White (Kansas), Cazzie Russell (Michigan), Austin Carr (Notre Dame), Dave Bing (Syracuse), Artis Gilmore (Jacksonville), Julius Erving (Massachusetts), Elvin Hayes (Houston), and Calvin Murphy (Niagara).
