April 26, 2013 – Maryland defensive tackle Joe Vellano, who played for CBA, hopefully will be picked in the NFL draft. Vellano was a two-time All Atlantic Coast Conference choice. The New England Patriots have given Vellano two workouts, and the strapping 6’2″, 305 pound Terrapin has sat down and watched film with Pats coach Bill Belichick. Vellano’s father Paul, who played for Bishop Gibbons in the late 1960s and then Maryland like his son was also a defensive tackle. Paul was picked by the Chicago Bears in the 14th round in 1974. He opted for the World Football League.
