Chuck Abba | Schenectady High Coach | 1993

Former Linton High School basketball star, Chuck Abba, a member of the undefeated 1969-70 Blue Devil squad, was named the head basketball coach of Schenectady High in 1993. He replaced Cal Wheeler who had been the Schenectady mentor for sixteen years.

During Abba’s years as a Linton basketball player, the Blue Devils racked up 41 wins against just 2 defeats. His head-coaching career began at Voorheesville, and from 1981 to 1984, Voorheesville put together a 47-24 record. In his first season at Schenectady High, Abba’s team went 5-16. In 1994, he took over the Bethlehem Central program. Abba coached the Eagles for nine years, and his 1997 team won the Suburban Council Gold Division title, and they reached the section II semifinals.
