Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey has been at the helm for 13 seasons, and he has done a superb job of teaching and coaching his recruits. Brey rates among the best college coaches in the country, but has not received his much deserved accolades from the media. this season, through January 8, the Fighting Irish have a 14-1 overall record, and they are 2-0 in the Big East Conference. They presently are on a 12-game winning streak for the first time since 2006-2007. The 14-1 record is the best start for Brey since he has taken over the program. This year’s team is made up of a group of good shooters from both inside and outside. In early January they were ranked fifth nationally in field goal percentage, hitting on 59.8 % of their shots from the field. The Irish were 12 of 18 from behind the arc in a recent win over Seton Hall which was a school record for a Big East game.
