Gaylord Perry Shoots for the Moon on July 20, 1969

Gaylord Perry, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants in the 1960s, was very non-productive with  the bat.  His manager, Alvin Dark, once told reporters that the United States would put a man on the moon before Perry would ever hit a homerun.  Perry did finally hit a roundtripper.  It came on July 20, 1969, about twenty minutes after Neil Armstrong had stepped down on the surface of the moon.
