Linton High School’s Jack Washington was the ultimate team player when he played for the Blue Devils from 1958-1961. Over a three-year span, the 6’4″ center’s teams won 52 games and lost just 2. They also ran-up a 46-game winning streak that was shattered by rival Mont Pleasant in the Red Raiders’ gym in 1961. Washington’s main strengths were his rebounding and defensive prowess. He made the Class A all-star team three years, and was named the best player in New York state outside of New York City by Dell Magazine his senior year.
