Joe Zelezniak a Shot Put Champ

Joe Zelezniak, the heralded Mont Pleasant High School quarterback of the early 1970s, was also a two-time New York state high school shot put champ. He also set a record in the event three straight years (1971-1973) in the Capital District Track Club’s indoor championships.  Zelezniak is best remembered as a southpaw quarterback who threw the football with a great deal of velocity and very accurately.  He has got to rank among the best quarterbacks in the history of the Red Raider football program.
