Brian Mee was a three-sport athlete at Johnstown high School, then moved on to Ithaca College, where he excelled as a baseball player. After college, Mee signed a baseball contract with the Chicago Cubs. A catcher, he taveled the country for three years and caught some very well-known players. When Mee left baseball, he began coaching, and his first assignment was at Duanesburg . He then moved on to Broadalbin, and in 1968 to Amsterdam. While at Amsterdam, Mee turned the baseball program into a powerhouse. From 1973 to 1975 his teams won 53-straight games, two sectional, and three Class A titles. When Mee retired in 1995, he had accumulated 413 wins against 259 losses. Later, he became the athletic director at Amsterdam.
