Mike Meola played basketball, football, and baseball for Linton High School in Schenectady, New York from 1960 to 1963, and his three-sport teammate was former NBA player, legendary coach and present President and General Manager of the Miami Heat, Pat Riley.
Mike was an All-America honorable mention in football, and the Schenectady County Player of the Year. He also was a first team All-County pick in all three sports both his junior and senior years. Mike also played basketball for the University of Massachusetts from 1963 to 1967 and competed against former NBA players Dave Bing and Jimmy Walker, and former Georgetown coach John Thompson and present Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim. Mike returned to Schenectady and was a teacher with the Schenectady City School District for 38 years. He also coached football and basketball. He is a member of the Schenectady City School District Athletic Hall of Fame.
Mike did part-time radio sports commentary in the New York Capital Region area for several years. He presently resides in Niskayuna, New York, a suburb of Schenectady.
