Kathy Kaczkowski played her high school basketball at Draper, and she rates among the best women high school players ever to come out of Rotterdam or the entire Capital Region. Her college career at Siena was just as impressive. Kaczkowski was a vital cog on her Siena teams every year. A strong inside player, the six-footer led her team in blocked shots her first three years, and she amassed over 1,000 career points. A very durable player, Kaczkowski started in over 40 consecutive games and hit 54.4 percent of her field goal attempts her first three seasons. Her junior year, she started in all 24 games and led the team in rebounding, averaging 6.4 boards per game and was second on the team in scoring with a 14.3 average. Kaczkowski scored a season-high 30 points in a 90-70 win over Niagara. She also had a career-high 13 rebounds against Colgate during the 1988-89 season.
