Major League Baseball Firsts

1951 – The first coast-to-coast TV broadcast was the playoff game between the Dodgers and Giants.

1953 – The Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee to become the first NL franchise to move.

1955 – The Philadelphia Athletics moved to Kansas City and became known as the Kansas City Athletics.

1956 – Don Newcombe of the Dodgers became the first Cy Young Award winner.

1957 – First year of the Golden Glove Award, and The Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants moved to California.
