Former Miami Dolphin coach Don Shula played football for John Carroll University in 1950, and his son Mike was a star quarterback at Alabama from 1983 to 1986. Don played professionally for the Baltimore Colts. Mike left Alabama having thrown the most TD passes in a season of any Crimson Tide quarterback (16 in 1985) and career (35 from 1983-1986). Not bad when you consider the fact that guys like Namath and Stabler were signal-callers for the Tide. Mike and his older brother David (who played for Dartmouth) were also NFL assistant coaches.
