Mike Maietta & Schenectady Little League Used Illegal Bats?

Mike Maietta took over as manager of the Schenectady Little League All-Star Team in 1951, and his team won the district title and moved on to state tournament play in Corning, New York.  In Corning, Maietta’s squad was accused of using bats that did not meet tournament rules.  As a result, players were forced to use a broken bat, which was held together with black tape.  They lost that game and were eliminated from tournament play.
