New York Giants Pitcher Johnny Antonelli Owned a Tire Store in Scotia

Johnny Antonelli, a former southpaw pitcher for the New York Giants, owned a quality tire store on Mohawk Avenue in Scotia in the late 1980s.  Antonelli had a pitching record of 21-7 for the Giants in 1954, and he led the league with an ERA of 2.30.  The crafty lefty led the Giants to the pennant, and in the World Series against Cleveland, Antonelli won game 2, and he came in as a relief pitcher in game 4 and shut down an Indian rally.  The Giants pulled off a 4-game sweep in that series.
