Caron Butler, a former Miami Heat player, now playing for the Clippers, was asked by a sportswriter about avoiding the Miami temptations as a rookie. Butler used it as a chance to show some respect for Schenectady native and Miami Heat President, Pat Riley. Riley was Butler’s coach during his rookie year (2002-2003). Butler told the writer that Riley was a strict disciplinarian with a stern approach, and he made it difficult for players to fall victim to the South Florida nightlife. “When Pat Riley is your coach, work gonna get done,” Butler said.
