Remember Pat Riley and Rupp’s Runts? This 1966 Kentucky basketball team, coached by Adoph Rupp, who was known as the Baron of the Blugrass, did not have a player in the starting lineup over 6’5″. That was the size of their sophomore center, Thad Jaracz. Riley and 6′ guard Louie Dampier were both All-Americans, and Tommy Kron and Larry Connelly were the other starters. That year, the Wildcats went up againt Texas Western, an all-black team coached by Don Haskins, in the NCAA final and lost. It was the first time in history that an all black team had taken all the marbles.
