Former Siena College basketball coach Paul Hewitt led Georgia Tech to the final game of the NCAA Tournament in 2004, losing to the University of Connecticut. It was Hewitt’s fourth year as the Yellow Jackets’ head coach. Going into the season, Georgia Tech was picked to finish no higher than eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They opened the season 12-0, beating powerhouses Texas Tech, Connecticut, and Ohio State among others. In the NCAA Tourney, They beat Kansas and Oklahoma State in the two games before meeting the Huskies in the final.
