Former Siena College basketball coach, Paul Hewitt, led Georgia Tech to the final game of the NCAA Tournament, losing to the University of Connecticut in 2004. It was his fourth season as the Yellow Jackets’ head coach. Going into the season, Georgia Tech was picked to finish no higher than eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They opened the year 12-0, beating powerhouses Texas Tech, Connecticut and Ohio State among others. In the NCAA Tourney, they beat Kansas and Oklahoma State in consecutive games before meeting UConn in the final.
