QB Manziel Wins the Heisman

December 8, 2012

I never have been a Notre Dame football fan, but I felt that fighting Irish linebacker Manti Te’o was more than deserving of winning the award this year because of his defensive prowess. Instead, Johnny Football was the winner.  Manziel is the 31st quarterback to win the award.  He also is the third quarterback in a row, sixth in seven years, and eleventh in thirteen years to win the Heisman.  The other quarterbacks who have won it are:

Davey O’Brien (Texas Christian), Nile Kinnick (Iowa)  Angelo Bertelli (Notre Dame), Les Horvath (Ohio State), Johnny Lujack (Notre Dame), Paul Hornung (Notre Dame), Terry Baker (Oregon state), Roger Staubach (Navy), John Huarte (Notre Dame), Steve Spurrier (Florida), Gary Beban (UCLA), Jim Plunkett (Stanford), Pat Sullivan (Auburn), Carson Palmer (USC), Jason White (Oklahoma), Matt Leinhart (USC), Troy Smith (Ohio State), Tim Tebow (Florida), Sam Bradford (Oklahoma), Cam Newton (Auburn), Robert Griffin III (Baylor), Doug Flutie (Boston College), Vinnie Testaverde (Miami), Andre Ware (Houston), Ty Detmer (BYU), Gino Torretta (Miami), Charlie Ward (Florida), Danny Wuerffel (Florida), Chris Weinke (Florida State), & Eric Crouch (Nebraska)
