Remember the 1950s?

** The Edison Club in Rexford was holding an annual ice carnival.  It featured ice skating races, an obstacle course race, and skating exhibitions.

** Skiland, located in East Berne, was advertising night-time skiing in the Schenectady Gazette.

** A Nott Terrace-Amsterdam basketball game was postponed due to a coal shortage.

** Fox & Murphy Sporting Goods was open and selling its sports products at 334 State Street in Schenectady.  Golf pro Jimmy Farina was giving golf lesson there.

** Brooklyn Dodgers baseball games were being aired over radio station WPTR (1540).

** Area fishermen were purchasing casting reels at Goldstock’s and other Capital Region sporting goods stores for $1.69

**B & K Speedway, located on Schenectady-Altamont Road, was advertising its stock car racing schedule in the area newspapers.  The speedway was behind Dutcher’s (Known for its superb ice cream).  The cost for admission was only a buck.
