Ron Turcotte & Secretariat

Secretariat went off at the incredibly short odds of 1 to 10 in the Belmont Stakes in 1973.  His jockey was Ron Turcotte, and Secretariat was tryng to become the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.  Secretariat responded in a very positive way, winning the race by an eye-popping 31 lengths.  His time of 2:24 for the 1 1/2 mile race set a world record that may never be broken.  Secretariat won back-to-back Horse of the Year awards.
