Rotterdam Wins 1980 Babe Ruth League World Series

Rotterdam won the Babe Ruth League World Series in 1980.  Here are some tidbits about that highly talented and well-coached championship team.

# They scored an incredible 73 runs in district competition.

# They won the New York State Championship game on a suicide squeeze and moved on to win the regional title.

# In their first game of World Series competition in Williston, North  Dakota, they blew their opponent away by a score of 25-5, and set many World Series records.

# They lost their second game to Fort Pierce, then re-grouped and won four straight.

# Rotterdam had three players named to the All-Tournament Team.  They were catcher Tom Franceski, shortstop/pitcher Randy Strijek, and outfielder/pitcher David Hartman.

# Wrandy Seaburg, Fred Saccocio Jr., Joe Milazzo, John Marco, Bob Esposito, Bob Frank, Bob Schroll, Joe Ziobrowski,  and Bob Anderson were other talented members of that squad.

# Fred Saccocio Sr. was the highly knowledgeable manager.

# Many members of the team were also members of the 1977 Carmen Little League All-Star Team that competed in the Little League World Series in Williamsport.

# Frank Milazzo was the manager of that little league squad.
