Undoubtedly, One of the best and most productive high school football coaches ever to come out of the Capital Region is Saratoga’s Blase Iuliano. Iuliano is a graduare of Ithaca College, where he recently was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame. Iuliano was a member of Ithaca’s wrestling, football, and track & field teams. After graduating from college, he began a magnificent 37-year career as the head football coach at Saratoga High School. As the Blue Streaks’ head coach, Iuliano won 4 sectional titles, 18 league championships, and finished his career with a 223-113-7 overall record. He retired in 2006. The following year, Union College football coach John Audino hired Iuliano to be one of his assistants. Iuliano is now in charge of the Dutchmen’s defensive unit. He is a member of New York state’s Section II Football & Wrestling Halls of Fame as well as the Saratoga High and Saratoga Springs City Halls of Fame.
