Scotia’s Cassie Broadhead to Lake George’s Joel Wincowski

Cassie Broadhead Sidelined –  Scotia’s Cassie Broadhead, a three-time all area all-star who will be attending Bringham Young University next year, is out for the remainder of this season.  She will be having surgery to repair her shoulder tear, and the recovery period is roughly 4 or 5 months.  Broadhead has also been named the Foothills Council Most Valuable Player three times during her spectacular high school career.

Joey Lufkin Leads All Area Scorers – Argyle’s sensational scorer, Joey Lufkin, leads all-area scorers with a 34.2 points per game average through January 9.  Lufkin also tops the list of three-point shots made with 38.

Nicole Bini On Fire – College of Saint Rose sharpshooter Nicole Bini tallied 27 points to lead her team to a 63-54 win over Saint Anselm on January 9.  Bini hit on 7 three-pointers.

Schenectady’s Sheila Dixon Making Her Mark at Brown – Former Schenectady High basketball player, Sheila Dixon, had a big game for Brown of the Ivy League.  Dixon bucketed 20 points in a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore.  She is averaging close to 13 points per game. Dixon was named to the All-Ivy League second team the last two years.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Liz Harvey on Track to Break Bulldog Record – Scoring sensation Liz Harvey was just 31 points shy of breaking the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls career scoring record as of January 10.  The record is presently held by Sarah Domermuth who amassed 1,525 points during her magnificent high school career.

Joel Wincowski Lighting it up for Lake GeorgeJoel Wincowski lit it up for 35 and 39 points in consecutive games to boost Lake George to  wins.  At this juncture Lake George is 9-0. Wincowksi is second to Lufkin among Capital Region scorers averaging better than 26 points per game..
