Powerhouses Texas and Arkansas went- head-to-head in college football’s 100th Anniversary Game in 1969. The Longhorns entered the game on an 18-game winning streak, and the Razorbacks had won 15-straight. Nearly half the TV sets in America were tuned in, and Arkansas struck early, shooting out to a 14-0 lead. Then, led by quarterback James Street, the Longhorns rallied in the fourth period. Street scampered for a 42 yard Touchdown, which was followed by a 2-point conversion. Then, with 4 minutes left in the contest, Street hit Randy Perchel, who sprinted 44 yards for the winning score. Final score: Texas 15, Arkansas 14. President Richard Nixon presented Texas with the National Championship Trophy.
