The Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs & Yankees and Derek Jeter

2002 – It was the final season for the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs and Adirondack Lumberjacks in the Northern league, and the first season for the Tri-City Valley Cats in the New York-Penn League.  The Valley Cats finished the season 27-48.

2003 – Former Albany-Colonie manager Buck Showalter was named manager of the Texas Rangers; Former A-C Yankee Derek Jeter was elected New York Yankee team captain; Former Albany Senator Haywood Sullivan died in Fort Myers, Florida, and the Amsterdam Mohawks became a member of the New York College Baseball League and won the championship.
