The Albany River Rats, Jack Goldthwaite & Tommy Brennan

The Albany River Rats – The River Rats competed from1993 to 2001, and they:  Beat the Rochester Americans in there very first game at the Knickerbocker Arena;  Broke their attendance record in 1995 when 13,941 fans attended a home game against the Adirondack Red Wings;  They won the Calder Cup in 1995;  On February 14, 1998, they honored their 1,000,000th fan;  Brendan Morrison scored all five goals in a 5-2 win over Hartford in 1998, and Frederic Henry had 60 saves against the Hartford Wolfpack in 2000 to set a club record. 

Jack Goldthwaite – One of Mohonasen High School’s  all-time best basketball players, Goldthwaite averaged over 22 points per game for the Mighty Warriors in 1969 and was named the Schenectady County Player of the Year.  His 42-point game that year set a single-game Mohonasen record.

Tommy Brennan – One of the best-known Capital Region basketball officials whose career spanned 42 years, Brennan officiated games that featured players like Cazzie Russell, Sid Edwards, Pat Riley, Julius Erving, Barry Kramer, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.  He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of fame.
