In 1950, Frank and Mickey D’armond started the Algonquin Sports Club, and they made boxer Petey Virgin the matchmaker. They promoted boxing and wrestling shows at McNearney Stadium and Paradise Roller Rink. Big names like Sandy Sadler, Joey DeJohn, Primo Carnera, and “Two Ton” Tony Galento all took part. They also booked professional wrestler Argentine Rocco, a former Mr. America. Rocco drew some of the biggest crowds.
