The New York State Pro Basketball League

The New York State Pro Basketball League was going strong in the late 1940’s, and the Albany Senators, Albany Red Devils, Troy Celtics, Troy Whirlwinds, Schenectady Comets, Saratoga Indians, and Glens Falls Commodores were among the league’s teams.  Games were played at the Albany Armory, Spa Convention Center, State Armory (Schenectady), and Troy Armory.  The Comets later became known as the Schenectady Packers, and they played in the American Basketball League.  This squad played against the Harlem Globetrotters which featured the great Goose Tatum.
