Those St. Columba’s Pillars Made Nice screens

St. Columba’s High School was located on Craig Street, which runs off of Albany Street in the Hamilton Hill section of Schenectady.  The gymnasium had pillars in the middle of the basketball court, and it was legal for a player to use them for a screen when trying to shake loose from an opposing player.  They were protected by matts.  Outstanding Crusader players like Leo McDermott, Lenny Riley, and Danny Connelly took full advantage of these pillars to free themselves up for shots.
