Tom Chestnut of the Cleveland Cavaliers & Philadelphia 76ers

Tom Chestnut played basketball for Linton High in the mid-1960s.  A whiz in the classrom, Chestnut went to Princeton, where he played for the master,  Pete Carril.  Chestnut’s Tiger team was ranked number three in the land in 1967.  One year, he had the opportunity to play in the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden against former Bishop Gibbons star, Dick Grubar.  He and Grubar had been rivals during their high school days.  Grubar was Dean Smith’s point guard for powerhouse North Carolina, and he played in the final four three years.  After graduating from Princeton, Chestnut played some pro ball in France and then for the Schenectady Schaefer Brewers.  At different times, he was President of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers and the CEO of the Philadelphia 76ers.
