Tommy LaSorda & Moose Skowron at McNearney Stadium

Many Capital Region golfers have played a round or two at Stadium Golf Course on Jackson Avenue in Schenectady.  Some golfers might not know that McNearney Stadium, home of the Schenectady Blue Jays (a minor league baseball team), was situated on that property.  The Blue Jays folded in 1957, and owner Pete McNearney built a nine-hole golf course there in 1965, which eventually was purchased by the Hennel family, who developed the present course. Players like Roger Maris, Tommy LaSorda, Rocky Colavito, Bill “Moose” Skowron, Bobby Richardson, and Felipe Alou all played at McNearney Stadium  at one time or another.
