Too Old to Play High School Football

Calvin Ridley, the nation’s top recruit at wide receiver, who is in his senior year at Monarch High School in  Florida, will be ineligible to play after the third game of the season because of age restrictions.  Ridley , who will be headed to Divison I power Alabama, becomes ineligible at that point in the season because the Florida High School Athletic Association allows their athletes to compete only until, but not after, the age of 19 years and 9 months.  Ridley will reach 19 years, 9 months the day after the third game.  Ridley, a 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, is rated the nation’s top wide receiver by ESPN.  Last seaon, he caught 41 passes for 1,131 yards and 12 touchdowns.
