In 1965, Roosevelt Phillips was bringing Capital Region basketball fans to their feet with his line drive jumpshots from deep in the corner that usually caught nothing but net. He and his Troy High teammates finished 20-0 for the regular season and won the Class A championship. They easily handled most of the Capital Region high schools that year. At one point, they were ranked among the best teams in the entire country. This Troy team was one of the greatest ever assembled in Capitaland. Hubert Terry, Perry Ashley, and the Guter brothers (Steve and Jerry) rounded out the staring five. Jerry Guter moved on to Kentucky and brother Steve to UMass.
