What Happened to Pat Riley?

Capital Region sports fans were asking that question when Parade Magazine announced its yearly five Scholastic Basketball All-American teams. Pat Riley was left out.  He had been included in every All-America poll that year (1963).  In one poll, he was first team Eastern Scholastic All-America, and in another, voted the best player in New York state.  Lew Alcindor (later known as Kareem Abdul Jabbar), a 7’1″ sophomore out of Power Memorial High School, who had played against Linton in the Scvhenectady Christmas Festival the year before, was a first team choice.  He was the first sophomore ever to make the first team.
